Aim 

The MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management offers a blend of logistics, supply chain management innovation and technology. This unique combination seeks to equip graduates with the capabilities needed to excel in the industrial sector. The programme's primary aim is to produce competent professionals and new breeds of business executives with critical thinking, unparalleled creativity, and conceptual and innovative skills to make a significant impact in the industry. 

 

Objectives  

The programme seeks to equip students to: 

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the global business environment, fostering crosscultural awareness and adaptability in logistics and supply chain management. 
  2. Apply comprehensive knowledge of logistics and supply chain to manage industryspecific challenges. 
  3. Develop innovative thinking and creative skills to solve complex problems within logistics and supply chain operations. 
  4. Apply research skills to contribute valuable insights and solutions to the logistics and supply chain field. 
  5. Develop leadership and decision-making skills necessary within the logistics and supply chain sector. 
  6. Develop practical skills in transport, distribution, and warehouse management 
  7. Provide avenues for knowledge transfer in the tertiary education environment as well as prepare students for terminal degrees (PhD). 

 

Intended Outcomes 

The Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme is designed to achieve a set of well-defined outcomes for students upon successful completion including the following: 

Global Strategic Decision-Making: Graduates are expected to demonstrate the ability to make informed strategic decisions within the global business environment by leveraging their understanding of the nuances of logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring that they can navigate and optimize global networks effectively. 

Industry-Specific Logistics Solutions: Graduates are expected to apply in-depth knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles to design, implement, and manage innovative solutions that address specific challenges across various industries. 

Innovative Problem-Solving: Graduates are also expected to develop and employ innovative thinking and creative problem-solving skills to design and implement advanced logistics solutions to address complex logistics and supply chain challenges. 

Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making: Graduates are expected to develop robust leadership capabilities and ethical decision-making skills, empowering them to lead diverse teams and make strategic decisions within the logistics and supply chain sectors to enhance organizational performance. 

Managerial Expertise in Logistics Operations: Graduates are expected to manage key areas of logistics operations, including transport, distribution, and warehouse management. This hands-on expertise will enable them to optimize these functions, ensuring efficient and effective supply chain operations in real-world settings. 

Research Excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain: Graduates are required to apply advanced research methodologies to contribute meaningful insights and groundbreaking solutions to the logistics and supply chain field. They will be equipped to conduct highquality research that addresses contemporary issues and trends, influencing both academic and industry practices. 

 

Students’ Admission Requirements, Progression, and Graduation 

The MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management is a one (1) year programme, and to gain admission, the applicant must satisfy the following minimum entry requirements:   

 

Ghanaian Applicants   

This MSc will consider holders of the following qualifications for admission:   

  • A good first degree (at least a Second Class Lower) in business and managementrelated disciplines, from a recognised tertiary institution. 
  • First degree in any discipline with appreciable work experience in supply chain, logistics or transport management (at least 2 years). 
  • Third Class Applicants with Bachelor of Technology/Bachelor Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management or related discipline with 3 or more years work experience in relevant role may be considered for admission after passing a selected interview. 

 

Applicants with Professional Qualifications 

  • CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in procurement and supply (MCIPS). 
  • CILT International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport 

Note: Professional qualifications will undergo an evaluation process to be conducted by GTEC to determine their equivalence. 

 

Foreign Applicants   

Foreign applicants from accredited/recognized institutions would be considered for admission in consultation with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for the 

determination of qualifications for equivalences.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
