Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has reached another milestone with the official accreditation of its Counselling Centre by the Ghana Psychology Council. This achievement highlights the University’s unwavering commitment to fostering mental health and well-being within its community.

In a letter dated 5th November 2024, the Ghana Psychology Council approved the Directorate of Guidance and Counselling at KsTU to offer psychological and counselling services. The approval followed the successful submission of facility application documents and a thorough inspection conducted on 16th August 2024.

The letter, signed by Ms. Anna Plange, Acting Registrar of the Ghana Psychology Council, also underscored the need for the Counselling Centre to renew its license annually before 31st December to ensure continuous legal operations.

The Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, lauded this milestone, stating, "The approval of our Counselling Centre is a testament to our dedication to ensuring that our University community has access to professional psychological support. This is a major step forward in addressing mental health challenges within the academic environment."

During a brief ceremony, Ms. Felicia Ofosuaa Tettey, the Deputy Director of Guidance and Counselling, presented the citation from the Ghana Psychology Council to the Vice-Chancellor. She expressed her delight at the hard work her team put in to secure the accreditation. She also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the University's Registrar in achieving this success, stating, "This recognition positions the Counselling Directorate as an official centre, ready to serve the KsTU community."

This accreditation aligns with Kumasi Technical University's mission to provide holistic education and create a supportive environment that empowers students and staff to excel both academically and personally. The Counselling Centre is now poised to deliver professional and ethical services that address the mental health needs of its stakeholders.

KsTU encourages all students and staff to take full advantage of the Counselling Centre’s services as part of efforts to build a healthier, more productive academic environment.
