Kumasi Technical University Hosts Delegation from Sivas Cumhuriyet University and the Middle East Technical University, Turkey

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has warmly received a high-powered delegation from Turkey as part of the Erasmus+ mobility exchange programme. The delegation, led by Prof. Sevgi Cavdar from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, included Prof. Dr. Mehmet Okyayuz and Hureyye Ozdemir from the Faculty of Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkiye.

The visit which was aimed at strengthening academic partnerships and fostering international collaborations, was an opportunity for the institutions involved to explore avenues for mutual growth, particularly, in the field of engineering. The delegation engaged in series of interactions with the Faculty of Engineering at KsTU, visited the AVIC Laboratory at the Adako-Jachie Campus, and delivered a presentation to students of the Civil Engineering Department.

During a brief courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor and his Senior Management, the delegation expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to collaborate with Kumasi Technical University. They reiterated their commitment to contributing to teaching and learning activities, underscoring their dedication to fostering academic excellence and strengthening institutional ties.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, who presided over the brief ceremony, extended a warm reception to the visiting scholars and emphasised the University’s commitment to expanding global partnerships. He noted that such engagements are essential in enhancing academic standards, exchanging research insights, and promoting cross-border knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The Erasmus+ mobility exchange programme continues to serve as a key platform for international cooperation, and KsTU remains committed to harnessing such opportunities to enhance its global outlook and academic excellence. The University looks forward to further engagements with its Turkish counterparts and other international institutions to drive innovation and knowledge-sharing in technical education.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
