KsTU Students Receive Specialised Training in Modern Building Techniques
The third and final-year students from the Department of Interior Design and Materials Technology at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) recently participated in a specialised training programme organised by KNAUF Ghana, a leading German building materials company. The training was held at the JICA center on KsTU's campus and it focused on soundproofing, heat insulation, and modular ceiling systems. It was aimed to equip students with practical skills for the construction industry.
Prof. Peter Kessels Dadzie, Dean of the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment (FBNE) emphasised the importance of the collaboration, stating, "This hands-on experience will help our students apply what they have learned in their lecture halls to practical scenarios. It's a significant step in preparing them for the challenges of the construction industry."

The training was structured into two sessions. They were theoretical session which covered the principles of soundproofing, heat insulation, and modular ceiling systems, and the practical session where students applied these techniques in real-life scenarios. This approach allowed students to gain hands-on experience with innovative plasterboard solutions, a key area of expertise for KNAUF.
KNAUF Ghana, a subsidiary of the German building materials giant, has been committed to developing skilled construction professionals across Africa. Since the Company established a training center in Accra in 2019, it is able to train up to 800 professionals annually with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
As Ghana’s construction industry continues to evolve, KsTU remains committed to equipping its students with industry-relevant skills, ensuring that they are well-prepared to meet modern building demands.
